Nigeria’s President Jonathan was
moments ago at the scene of the Nyanya, Abuja bomb blasts. Speaking
through his spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, the president said he was
“saddened by loss of lives in Nyanya bombing.” Dr. Abati communicating
via Twitter also tweeted that, “President Jonathan has ordered
heightened security in Abuja following Nyanya bombing. President
Jonathan extends his heartfelt condolences to bereaved
families. President Jonathan directs the medical services to do their
very best to save the lives of those injured in Nyanya bombing.” The
president was scheduled to be in Ibadan today for the centenary
celebrations of the Olubadan of Ibadan. He has since visited Asokoro
Hospital where some of the injured victims of the attack are currently
undergoing treatment. There is a reported shortage of blood as blood
donors are needed.
